Alan

Meet Alan, a very creative and outgoing seven-year-old boy from Munnar, India. He is in Grade 2 and loves his math classes. He also enjoys drawing and playing soccer with his friends. Alan has been undergoing treatment for Nephrotic Syndrome since he was two years old, but he continues to participate in school and activities with his friends, Harishma and Nithish. When he finishes his studies, Alan wants to become a police officer in his community.

Alan lives with his mother, sister, and grandparents. As a single parent, Alan’s mother works hard as a saleswoman in a local clothing store, while his grandmother works as a daily labourer on a tea farm. His mother is finding it challenging to cover the daily expenses for the family, including the children’s school fees. Being part of the Chalice sponsorship program would be an incredible opportunity for Alan and would ensure he is able to continue his studies, gaining the educational foundation he will need to eventually achieve his goal of becoming a police officer.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
