Kapesa is a young woman who has spent much of her life caring for others. From an early age, she stepped into responsibilities far beyond her years after the loss of her father. Leaving school behind, she began working to support her family, helping her mother in the fields and later taking on work as a caregiver to children. Every small earning she makes is used not for herself, but to help her younger siblings continue their education and build a better future.
Her life, already shaped by sacrifice, was suddenly shaken by a painful and unexpected illness. One evening, she developed severe abdominal pain that quickly worsened, leaving her unable to continue her daily routine. At first, she sought treatment and hoped it would pass, but the pain persisted and intensified. Within days, she had to be admitted to the hospital, where tests revealed a serious and urgent condition—an intestinal perforation.
This diagnosis brought immediate fear and urgency. Without delay, she underwent laparoscopic surgery to repair the damage. For her and her family, those days were filled with anxiety, uncertainty, and helplessness. Though the surgery was successful and her condition stabilized, the emotional and financial toll has been immense.
Kapesa is now recovering at home, slowly regaining her strength. However, her journey is far from over. She must rest, follow medical advice, and rebuild her health before she can return to work. For a family already living with very limited means, her temporary inability to earn adds to their struggle.
Her mother continues to work long hours in the fields, and the family has had to rely on borrowed support to manage the emergency. What was once a fragile balance has now become a heavy burden.
Kapesa’s story is one of quiet resilience—a young woman who has given so much for her family, now facing her own moment of vulnerability. With compassionate support, she can recover with dignity and her family can find relief from the weight they carry.
Thank you for your compassion and for taking the time to think about those in need.
