Where we work

Chalice has been serving children in Haiti since 1999, mostly in small town settings.

Haiti’s ongoing political and social turmoil has led to soaring inflation and shortages on essentials. Unmanageable costs of food, fuel and other basics are pushing families further into poverty and food insecurity. The “basics” children need to attend school daily are becoming luxuries.

Even before the most recent crises, there was little access to quality education. Public schools are under-resourced, and some parents are mistrustful of the role of education for their children.

Sponsorship supports school fees, books, and improved nutrition. Our staff support children to complete their education until high school graduation, at a minimum. Through Chalice nutrition programs, many schools run feeding programs.

Chalice also provided immediate and long-term disaster relief and restoration support in the wake of the 2010 and 2021 earthquakes, and Hurricane Matthew (2016).
