Where we work

Chalice has been serving children and elders in Bolivia since 2004. We work in urban communities in major cities such as Cochabamba, La Paz, and Sucre. We also work in very remote, rural communities. Our local partners tell us that Chalice is unique in the regions we serve because we dedicate more resources to supporting families at every level.

Bolivian children from low-income families face great pressure to drop out of school and enter the workforce. Therefore, our sites focus on after-school support programming to keep children in school until they graduate. Most children do not eat a nutritious diet because healthy food options are much more expensive than their filling, but nutrition-poor, alternatives. Over time, poor diets affect the children’s health and development. Our partners ensure children have balanced, nutrient-rich diets by implementing nutrition programs.

Our Bolivian sites also prioritize inclusivity for traditionally marginalized groups such as indigenous and elder community members.
