Rowan

Rowan is a responsible 14-year-old boy from Tondo, Philippines. He is in Grade 9 and enjoys mathematics class, where he challenges himself to solve problems and learn new skills. Rowan also loves singing and expresses himself through music. When he grows up, Rowan dreams of becoming a sailor. He is proactive and takes initiative, not waiting to be told what to do. He is committed to his studies and works hard toward his goals. Rowan lives with his parents and two brothers in a thatched home with a sheet-metal roof. His father works as a construction worker but often experiences dizziness and high blood pressure, which limits his ability to work consistently. During times when construction work is unavailable, he helps his wife peel garlic to earn money for food. When there is no work and no garlic to peel, the family sometimes relies on support from an older married sibling to help meet their basic needs. Sponsorship would be a meaningful help for Rowan’s education and would also ease the burden on his entire family. Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
