Milana

Milana is a bright 7-year-old girl from Velyka Kamianka village, Ukraine. She is in Grade 1 and loves music class. She also enjoys drawing and expresses herself with creativity and joy. An excellent student, Milana goes to school eagerly and is proud to be learning to read, write, and count. When she grows up, Milana dreams of becoming a doctor. For now, she hopes simply to be happy, to play, to learn, and to have everything she needs to grow strong and healthy. Milana lives with her parents in her grandparents’ wooden house in western Ukraine, where their family shares a small space. Although active fighting is not taking place in their village, missiles have flown overhead and explosions have been heard nearby. Air raid alarms often interrupt school days, and children must shelter in cold bomb shelters, which has caused Milana to fall ill at times. Her father is temporarily unable to work due to a spinal injury from a construction accident. Her mother works as a nurse at a kindergarten, earning a humble income that barely covers essential needs. The family also grows vegetables in a small garden to help provide food, but rising prices have made life increasingly difficult. Despite these hardships, Milana and her family remain faithful and hopeful, praying daily for peace and a better future. Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
