Patrick is a bright and creative twelve-year-old boy who dreams of living like other children his age. He enjoys drawing and art at school and is known for his cheerful spirit and love for his family. As the youngest twin in his family, Patrick shares a close bond with his siblings and deeply values the care and sacrifices his mother makes for them every day.
Patrick lives with his single mother and brothers in a modest rented home. Since the passing of their father, his mother has carried the full responsibility of raising the family alone. She works tirelessly doing casual labor, including guiding tourists as a porter on Mount Kenya and small-scale farming when opportunities arise. Her work is physically demanding and seasonal, yet she continues to persevere so her children can attend school and have their basic needs met.
From birth, Patrick and his twin brother have faced serious physical challenges affecting their feet. This condition makes walking extremely difficult and painful. Several years ago, both boys underwent a specialized surgical procedure that helped improve their mobility. After the operation, they spent a long period in a rehabilitation center where they received therapy and learned how to walk with the support of braces and specialized footwear.
While the first procedure brought improvement, Patrick still struggles with walking long distances. Even traveling to school is difficult, and he often cannot participate in games or activities with other children. Doctors have now recommended an additional procedure to further correct the position of his feet and strengthen his ability to walk independently.
Patrick remains hopeful that this treatment will allow him to move more freely and enjoy a fuller childhood. However, the recovery process requires extended rehabilitation, therapy, and specialized care away from home—something his hardworking mother cannot manage alone due to their limited resources.
With compassionate support, Patrick can receive the continued care and therapy he needs to regain strength, improve his mobility, and move closer to a future where he can walk confidently, attend school comfortably, and participate fully in life alongside his peers.
