At our Wa site in Ghana, Tien was working hard, learning all the skills necessary to become a seamstress. As she was nearing graduation she was overcome with shock to find out her sponsors had sent her a farewell gift, “Thank you so much for your generous farewell gift,” she writes to her sponsors. “I was absolutely speechless when I received it.”

A farewell gift is one way a sponsor can help their sponsored child after sponsorship funds end, and it’s really not the amount that matters, but the intention behind the gift.
For Tien, her farewell gift was used to help her open her own dressmaking shop. A dream she shared with her sponsor from a young age.
“That gift arrived at the perfect moment, just as I was completing my studies at the fashion trade school. This past year has been an opportunity of learning and stitching and your sponsorship made it all possible, she shared.”
Tien’s journey with us has been one of consistent growth and determination. From a young age, her sponsorship provided access to quality education, nurturing her innate creativity and a keen eye for detail. Her passion for fashion and design blossomed, leading her to pursue vocational training at the fashion trade school. “We recall the excitement when she enrolled into the school,” said a site staff member. “Over the past 4 years, Tien has immersed herself in the craft, mastering tailoring techniques, all while developing a unique aesthetic that blends traditional Ghanaian styles with contemporary flair. Her dedication was exemplary; she spent extra hours perfecting her skills and assisting her instructors.”
Tien is bursting with pride and excitement for her future and credits her sponsors for their help and encouragement over the years. “Your generosity has truly been a life-changing blessing. You haven’t just supported my education; you’ve invested in my future and given me the tools to build a life I can be proud of. I will forever cherish your kindness and believe that, ‘the best way to predict the future is to create it,’ and you have given me the power to create mine.”
