Sponsorship inspires Emmaculate to pay it forward

“Growing up in my humble home, I never thought I would have the chance to pursue my dream due to financial constraints, but Chalice saw the potential in me,” said Emmaculate.

The first-born of eight children, Emmaculate grew up in a suburb of Nandom in Ghana. Her father was a small-scale farmer and even though he worked hard, the family was always on the edge of hunger. The family rejoiced when she was chosen by a Chalice sponsor.

“The kindness and generosity of my sponsor had changed my life, my sponsorship has always supported my tuition fees, provided school supplies and even supported my extra curriculum activities like sports,” explains Emmaculate. Throughout the years, Chalice remains a constant source of encouragement and support in my life journey.

Always recognizing the advantage of having a sponsor, Emmaculate worked very hard in school. After her father passed when she was 13-years-old she was more determined than ever to finish school and become a nurse. A profession where she can help people in need.

Through her sponsorship journey, Emmaculate credits her sponsor for their encouragement, “My sponsor celebrates my life achievements and birthday parties which made me realized that your impact went beyond financial support but also instilled confidence and hope in me.”

In September 2025, Emmaculate graduated from nursing school and is excited for her future. She feels called to give back to her community and do what she can to help and encourage others. “Growing up, I realized the ripple effect of my sponsor’s kindness and that compelled me to become determined to make a difference in my community and beyond, she said. “Today I am proud to say that I have almost achieved my dream and I will be giving back to my community.”

“The selflessness of my sponsor has inspired me to be all willing to give back to society and to whoever that needs my help. I am much grateful and I will always be grateful for your investment you made in me. Thank you.”
