The weight of unpaid tuition fees can often feel much heavier than their textbooks. For many students in our Asembo site, they arrive at school wondering if they’ll be sent home for unpaid bills.
Thanks to everyone who supported students through our gift catalogue, 217 students in Asembo never had to wonder again.
“The school fees support from the gift catalogue has not only enabled access to education but has also restored dignity, confidence, and ambition in the lives of these young learners,” says Sister Pauline, Asembo site director.
“For many of these families, the burden of school fees has been a significant challenge that has denied some the right to education. This gift catalogue support has lightened that burden.”
Almost 50 students are now taking technical and vocational courses—highly marketable in Kenya’s economy today. Students are pursuing electronic engineering, civil engineering, software development, cybersecurity, and data science. Others are studying construction, hospitality, and tourism.
On top of that, almost 170 high school students received support, which helps with their tuition, essential needs, meals, and accommodation.
“Your support ensured that these students remained in school for the full academic term, uninterrupted,” says Sister Pauline. “They were able to concentrate on their studies, participate fully in school activities, and perform better academically.” She adds that the benefits extend beyond academic success. Staying in school keeps teens safe, eating regular meals, and protected from the risk of exploitation.
She extends her gratitude to all the catalogue gift-givers who made the school support possible.
