When we give with intention, our gifts become more than a gesture. Through Chalice Canada’s gift catalogue, every item brings hope to those who need it most. When Haiti North received their Christmas gift items, the families came together to make a plan. Each sponsored child’s family was going to receive a “feed a family” gift from Chalice’s Christmas gift catalogue, and to get the most bang for their buck, they needed to get organized.
Pooling their funds by group enables the parents to buy in bulk which is both efficient and ensures everyone gets an equal quantity.
Each group planned a little differently, but all bought bulk quantities of essential staples including rice, cooking oil, noodles, canned milk, sardines, and crackers.
Edley, our Haiti North site director, shares one family’s story as an example of how the “feed a family” gift changes lives.
Junia and her 13-year-old daughter Rodjina immediately bought spaghetti, milk, and protein-rich foods. Last year, Rodjina was diagnosed with a heart condition, and her nutrition is critical. She lives with chronic pain but remains undeterred from her goal of becoming a nurse.

When they picked up their groceries, the Haiti North team could see the relief and joy in their eyes. They heard Junia pray aloud, “Thank you to the donors who gave funds. May God watch over them and grant them health.”
Rodjina couldn’t wait to get home and cook. “With these nutritious foods, I’ll finally have the strength to study without pain,” Rodjina says. “I can achieve my dream of caring for others.”
“Thank you deeply to all Chalice donors!” says Junia. “God bless you for your life-saving contribution.”
“The families, the students, and the entire Haiti North site team express their sincere gratitude to all Chalice donors for their ongoing generosity,” says Edley.
“Thanks to you, hundreds of families were able to improve their access to food. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your invaluable support.”
Your gift brings hope to a child or family in need. Through that hope, they experience the love of God in a meaningful way. Let’s share kindness this season and reflect God’s love to those who need it most.
