Funding Request: $1,715.76 CAD
Critical Need: CNITL1124
Radhika lives with her husband and two children in a small village in Tamil Nadu state. Her youngest, Prasanna, is studying in grade eight with the support of a Chalice sponsor. Radhika has a physical disability, and her husband, Muthukumar, works as an agricultural daily wage laborer.
In October 2024, Radhika, 39, began experiencing stomach pain and bleeding. She consulted a doctor who prescribed medication, and she started her treatment. But after a few days her symptoms worsened with severe stomach pain and continued bleeding.
She went to the hospital where she underwent lab tests and scans. After reviewing the results, the doctor diagnosed cysts in her uterus and recommended surgery.
Radhika had a complex surgery a few days later. She stayed under observation for six days, and her doctors discharged her in stable condition. She’s home and recovering well, taking her prescribed medication.
Her treatment incurred medical expenses of $1,715.76 CAD, including her medicine, pharmacy, lab tests, medical items, and hospitalization/surgery. Knowing that these expenses were beyond Radhika and Muthukumar’s limited means, the Tamil site staff have requested this amount on their behalf.
