Sirisha grew up with her parents and her two siblings, Vara and Vishal. Their community is in the far east of Karnataka state, India, and a part of our Bangalore sponsor site. “Her parents battled to give their children an adequate education while making ends meet,” says Bangalore worker, Isaac. “The kids were engaged in school activities, athletics, and culture, and they were quite active. Nevertheless, the parents found providing for their kids’ extracurricular interests difficult.”
So, when Sirisha was in grade seven, the Bangalore team matched her with a Chalice sponsor. For the next eight years, her sponsor’s unwavering support has propelled her to new heights.
Isaac says, “one of the greatest educational institutions in the town…was able to enrol Sirisha thanks to sponsorship.”
She pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree because she loves math. She is achieving high grades and has also enrolled in a data entry training program, which will offer career options after her studies.
“She is quite sure that she will land the greatest job possible,” he says, “so that she may help her brothers fulfil their aspirations.”
