Calling All Foodies: Chalice Cooks Up Love in the Kitchen
May 16, 2022
Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada –
Chalice, a Catholic international development and aid charity, is inviting foodies around the world to pull out their chef’s hat and roll up their sleeves at Love in the Kitchen this June.
Taking place June 18-19, Love in the Kitchen is a free online cooking and theology conference. Featuring 20+ Catholic speakers, they’ll share their insights into how our spirits connect to our stomachs.
Speakers will present on a wide spread of topics, including cooking, baking, body image, wine, and mixology – and how they connect to theology.
The pièce de résistance: Saturday night, a free, live cooking class with renowned Catholic chef Fr. Leo Patalinghug of Plating Grace Ministries.
“We’re called to pray without ceasing, and do all things with great love. That call remains with us in the garden, the grocery store, the kitchen, and at the dinner table,” says Theodoric Nowak, the event organizer and Chalice’s Corpus Christi Engagement Manager.
“Not only is food a source of joy in our lives, but it’s also an opportunity to grow in holiness.”
To prepare your spirits for Love in the Kitchen, Chalice is hosting an online pre-event on May 25 called Drink and Be Holy, featuring Dr. Michael P. Foley, author of Drinking with the Saints: The Sinner’s Guide to a Holy Happy Hour.
Join us for an evening of conversation as Dr. Foley teaches us how to mix a tasty drink and digs into what it means to be Catholic and merry.
He’ll also converse with Dr. Ansel Augustine, a fellow theologian and director of the Office of Black Catholic Ministries for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. As a Catholic who abstains from alcohol, Dr. Augustine will bring his unique perspective to the table.
