Latha is a mother of three young adults: Abitha, a nurse; Santhiran, engaged in daily wage work after completing his welder course; and Abinaya, a BA student supported by the sponsorship program. Latha is still the primary breadwinner, supporting them as an agricultural daily wage worker.
Latha has been experiencing abdominal pain for a year due to fibroids in her uterus. In January 2024, she had severe pain and bleeding, leading her to consult her doctor. The scan revealed fibroids and would need surgery.
Latha was admitted for the procedure, and it was successful. Her doctors discharged her after three days of post-surgery care. She is currently recuperating with prescribed medication.
The family faced financial strain due to medical expenses, which amounted to $1,194.44 CAD. The Tamil sponsor site has therefore requested to cover the bills, which will cover Latha’s registration, biopsy, medical items, doctor fees, admission, room rent, maintenance, nursing, lab tests/scans, medicines, and post-operative care.
