Latha Mary, 46, started having abdominal pain last December. Her doctors diagnosed stones in both kidneys and removed them. In July, the abdominal pain returned, and the imaging showed new stones and a pus formation. She underwent a second surgery to fragment the stones, remove the pus, and the surgeons also inserted ureter stents. Five weeks later, Latha Mary had her third operation to remove the stents and the final removal of the kidney stone fragments. The hospital discharged her, and she is recovering at home.
Latha Mary does not work outside the home, and so her family of six relies on her husband's income as a painter. A Chalice sponsor is also helping her daughter Nancy complete her high school education. Latha Mary's emergencies incurred medical bills of $2,147.50 CAD, which is beyond her family's means.
The Tamil sponsor site has put forward a request for the full amount, which includes Latha Mary's diagnostic imaging, lab tests, medicine, and surgeries.
