Chalice helps Njiru stars in Kenya establish small businessesThough his father worked hard to educate his children, he was not able to support Humphrey to further his education and so, after completing grade 12, the young boy left home in search of a job so he could help his family. That is why he travelled to Nairobi and ended up as an apprentice at a carpentry workshop - learning carpentry from a skilled employer as an apprentice.

Humphrey gained much experience in carpentry and continued to look for jobs in carpentry yards with a dream to start his own carpentry workshop. Thanks to Chalice ILEG Youth Entrepreneurship Program that provided him with entrepreneurial skills, and a shipping container that has been prefabricated to provide working space for him and other members of the group.

Humphrey has started a small carpentry workshop. However, to have a well established workshop that serves a wide range of customers, he requires a circular machine, band saw, router, drill, plane, jigsaw, hand circular, grinder, and material (plywood, fittings, other accessories). Humphrey requires Kes 369,000 or CAD $4,792.20 to establish a well-equipped carpentry workshop.
