Who we are looking for:
Chalice (Canada) is looking for a qualified, dedicated, and detail-oriented individual for a full-time position as Social Media Specialist as a part of Chalice’s communications team. The ideal candidate will be committed to Chalice’s mission “To reveal God's love in action by serving the poor, with the Global Catholic Community” and will be primarily responsible for the development, launch, and implementation of new social media and communications initiatives, as well as provide copy-editing support for the communications team on internal and external communication pieces. The ideal candidate should be experienced with producing copy for a variety of social media platforms, as well as with clearly articulating and understanding social media metrics and trends. They will be comfortable working in and contributing to the faith-filled work environment at Chalice, as well as hold values that align with the Catholic values of Chalice.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist in developing and maintaining marketing strategies & campaigns using all necessary channels and platforms, including social media.
- Write compelling copy targeted at a wide range of audiences to be used online and in promotional and fundraising materials and reports.
- Contribute stories for blogs, monthly eNewsletter, and other regular Chalice publications as required to support the communications team.
- Assist in regular website updates relating to written content, donation pages, and sponsorship.
- Work collaboratively as part of the communications team to develop campaign concepts, narratives, and executions.
- Assist in writing, editing, and proofreading material produced by the Invitation Department as well as other departments.
- Monitor and reply to email sent to Chalice’s information request email address.
- Stay up to date with evolving standards in communications, emerging PR trends, and develop narratives in keeping with them.
- Attend departmental and team meetings, including daily prayer meetings, as required.
- Work and communicate professionally across departments and in team settings.
- Ad-hoc project work and other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Marketing/Public Relations or related equivalent.
- Experience and understanding of social media platforms, including analytics and optimization.
- Experience with content creation and strategy.
- Previous writing experience (1-5 years).
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong project management and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a professional manner in a deadline-driven environment.
- A collaborative mindset.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated initiative.
- Strong personal integrity.
- French language skills would be considered an asset
Other Requirements
- Hours worked: minimum 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Office setting in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
- Working in a faith-based, prayer filled environment with daily prayer meetings at 8:30AM.
