Rani is the loving grandmother of Rahuna, a girl sponsored through our Madurai sponsor site in India.

Both live with Rani’s daughter, Fathima – Rahuna’s mother. Fathima works hard to support her elderly mother and young daughter and has appreciated Rahuna’s Chalice sponsor who has helped her provide her family with food and essentials.

In April, as India’s COVID-19 crisis was severe, Rani came down with a headache and fever. When medication could not alleviate it, she went to the hospital. A CT scan revealed a severe chest infection and she tested positive for the coronavirus. She required 10 days of hospitalization and was sent home with medication to recover.

To Rahuna and Fathima’s relief, grandmother Rani has recovered her health. But her medication and hospital fees mounted to $2,696.24 CAD, well beyond what Fathima can repay. Your support will enable Fathima to cover the cost of her mother’s CT scan, medicine, hospital fees, consultations, diagnostic tests, and PPE.
