A Chalice sponsor has been supporting him since 2015.
At the beginning of May, he came down with a fever, cough, and had severe pain in his side. He could not eat, and his stomach felt swollen and firm to the touch. His mother took him to the hospital, where the doctors performed x-rays and other diagnostic tests. They concluded that Marvens was suffering from advanced tuberculosis and typhoid fever.
Marvens will now need medications and frequent follow-up appointments and testing. These costs, including the cost of the transportation to the hospital, is far outside of Marvens' family's means. Additionally, the doctors have urged Marvens' family to be tested for tuberculosis, which is highly infectious and can go undetected for long periods after exposure. This is an additional cost that the family cannot afford.
The Haiti South sponsor site has requested $2,058.52 CAD to help Marvens' mother to cover the costs of his emergency tests and treatment, as well as the funds they will need for his ongoing treatment, tests, follow-up appointments, and his family's tuberculosis testing. These funds will also cover a supply of nutritious foods to ensure Marvens has the nutritious diet he needs to recover his health.
Funding Request: $2,058.52
Please note that any donations that exceed the request will be used to fund other critical need emergencies that may arise.
