Nadiya supports her family with her small farm and livestock, and Mykhalo earns wages when he can find seasonal work. They are grateful for Olha's Chalice sponsor, who has supported her for six years.
In the early hours of May 8, Nadiya awoke to a crackling sound that she thought was rain. Smelling smoke, she realized the roof was on fire. She and her family evacuated, but by the time the firefighters arrived ten minutes later, the upstairs rooms were engulfed in flames. By the time it had been extinguished, the roof and upper floors were decimated, and the lower floors were flooded with water and flame retardant foam. The fire also claimed windows, doors, four radiators, their washer, and two sheds containing tools and 25 sacks of grain.
One small blessing was that their livestock were unharmed, including a horse the family had received through the Chalice gift catalogue earlier this year.
Olha and her family have lost everything, and her parents cannot afford the costs of repairing and renovating the house. A kind neighbour is currently letting them sleep at their house. Nadiya and Mykhalo have gone to community officials for support, but the assistance they may receive will not be sufficient.
The Ternopil sponsor site has therefore requested $7,610.56 CAD to help the family repair their home. This will include the renovation supplies, wood, metal sheeting, the replacement windows and doors, and the replacement radiators.
Funding Request: $7,610.56 CAD

Please note that any donations that exceed the request will be used to fund other critical need emergencies that may arise.
