Albert, the father of a sponsored child through our Tamil site in India, fractured his right leg in an accident at the end of July.
He was rushed to the government hospital for treatment but was turned away due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Albert was forced to go to a private hospital, where he was admitted and had surgery the following day. Unfortunately they were left with a significant bill in the amount of $941.73 to cover the cost of the operation and have had to borrow the money to pay for it.
Albert and his wife have three daughters. Albert is a day labourer who cuts bamboo while his wife knits coconut leaves to sell. Albert is unable to work until his leg heals and even before the accident, the family wasn't able to secure work every day. They are in no position to pay back the money borrowed. The sponsor site has asked Chalice to help this family so Albert can heal quickly without the added burden of his hospital bill on his mind.
