This bright 10th grade student recently fell ill with a high fever. Litenès had been sick for three weeks when his father, desperate and at a loss as to what to do, sent him to his sister in the city of Jérémie. By this time, the teenager was in so much pain he couldn't stand up, so his aunt took him to the Saint Antoire Hospital in Jérémie. This run-down hospital was unable to provide any help for Litenès.
Thankfully, his aunt immediately contacted the sponsor site director who took Litenès to the CREMED Clinic where he was diagnosed with typhoid fever and Helicobacter pylori (a type of harmful bacteria that live in the digestive tract and if left untreated can cause ulcers).
Litenès' family has no income or assets and have no way to pay for his care. The sponsor site has asked Chalice for $847.71 to pay for the hospital bill, medicine, and nutritional supplements required for a full recovery.
