Daniel is the elder brother of a sponsored girl from our School for the Deaf (SFD) site in Ghana.
In 2015 Daniel was diagnosed with diabetes. His mother is a widow with three children and the family is very poor. She works as a farmer, but finds it difficult to earn enough money for the family's upkeep.
This lack of funds has meant that Daniel has not been able to afford prescribed medications and medical supplies to control his diabetes. Sadly, his condition has deteriorated and he has lost his eyesight. According to the doctor, Daniel is in desperate need of the medication so he can get his blood sugars under control and there is even a chance that he will regain his sight if it is done immediately.
Our sponsor site director has asked Chalice for $1,894.66 to pay for monthly hospital checkups, a glucometer, testing strips, insulin and related medical supplies to help Daniel control his blood sugars. His mother is willing to take care and ensure the prescription given by the doctor is followed, both at home and at the hospital.
