Dora is employed as a social worker at our Dominica Sponsor Site in Paraguay.
She is the mother of a five-year-old boy who suffers from diabetes and requires considerable care.
Dora has been suffering from a degenerative disease affecting her lower back. She was advised to have surgery last year but postponed due to the cost. She is now in severe pain and is finding it very hard to move and nearly impossible to care for her five-year-old son. At this point she is in urgent need of spinal surgery and it cannot be put off any longer.
Public medical insurance will cover her hospitalization, surgery and post-operative treatment, as well as some medications. She must cover the cost of the other medications, as well as all materials and supplies for the spinal implants. Her cost will be $4,955.
Dora struggles to pay for basic costs for her and her son and cannot afford to cover these expenses. Our sponsor site has requested assistance from Chalice to help Dora in her time of desperate need.
Funding Request: $4,955
Critical Need: PDD1119
Please note that any donations that exceed the request will be used to fund other critical need emergencies that may arise.
