Darlineda came to the Haiti South site office after several fruitless trips to the clinic. She had abdominal pain and none of the treatments the clinicians had suggested had worked. The Haiti South staff directed her to the doctors who see to Chalice ‘critical needs’ patients.
At the clinic, she finally received the correct diagnosis: an ulcer in her upper small intestine. She will need six months of treatment to resolve the ulcer.
The Haiti South site assisted her to compose a budget for her treatment. The total comes to $1,029.83 CAD. Like many adults in Haiti right now, Darlineda cannot secure any work. She is also supporting her two children plus a nephew, all on her own. She is unable to afford her treatment. The Haiti South site have put forward a request on her behalf.
Darlineda’s budget includes reimbursement for the treatment and medication she has already received, as well as medication and a supplementary food supply for six months.
