Now 21, a year ago, Chalice supporters stepped in to help her afford treatment for a pelvic inflammation. Unfortunately, her symptoms have persisted despite the care she’s received. Her regular follow-ups have proven fruitful: seeing her physician consistently has allowed him to spot complications and address new symptoms as they arise. But she has not fully recovered and the follow-ups must continue. But Ismeralda has reached the end of the original Chalice donor-supported budget.
By December, she was still having abdominal pain and other persistent symptoms. She went for a round of tests in early January 2023, from which her doctor diagnosed cervicitis.
The Haiti South sponsor site staff have a created a second budget to support Ismeralda to continue her follow-ups and treatment until she has completely healed. Her doctor estimates it will only be one more month.
Their budget of $1,158.01 CAD includes reimbursement for Ismeralda’s treatments and medication after the end of the first amount requested. It also includes the one new month of treatment.
