Muthulakshmi had a constant pain in her abdomen. She tried some over-the-counter medication, but they only brought temporary relief. Three months passed and the pain did not abate. In mid-November, the pain became so acute in her right side that she went to the hospital. They admitted her immediately. The doctors ran tests and scans, confirming she had acute appendicitis.
She underwent an emergency laparoscopic appendectomy surgery. After four days of post-op care, she went home in stable condition. The Madurai sponsor site staff are pleased to report that Muthulakshmi is now in good health, eating normally and resuming her routine activities.
But her emergency incurred medical expenses of $674.87 CAD, much more than she can afford with her vending income. The Madurai sponsor site have put forward a request to cover the bills on her behalf. These funds will cover Muthulakshmi’s hospital, medicine, and treatment charges.
