Amos and his sisters grew up with their parents near our Tamil sponsor site. Their parents are agricultural daily wage workers. His younger sister, Saral, is supported by a Chalice sponsor, and is now working towards her nursing degree. Amos completed his industrial training courses and is now working to help support his family.

Amos, 21, fell from a palm tree while he was climbing to pick the fruit. Unable to walk, his family took him to the hospital. X-Rays & CT Scans revealed an injury that would require spinal surgery. Amos underwent CVJ decompression (Craniovertebral Junction Instability) surgery. His doctors discharged him five days later.

His medication and surgery have incurred medical bills of $2,302.86 CAD, far beyond Amos’ family’s means. The Tamil site staff have put forward a request for the full amount on the family’s behalf.
