Denilson, 15, and his brother were both born with cystic fibrosis. Over the years, Denilson has attended a regular outpatient program at the pediatric hospital. His doctors wanted him to try doing the program activities from home, under Hermelinda’s close supervision, hoping they would be more effective for him in his home environment. But instead, he feels confined in his bed which is causing depression and he is losing weight he cannot afford to lose.
The Don Bosco site staff want to support Denilson with his medicine, help him access more food (and a weight-restoration supplement drink), and give him a new bed and mattress, so that Denilson’s quality of life will improve and he will get stronger. They want to give him a better and more comfortable bed because he spends most of his time there, and a boost in food supplies so that he will restore the weight lost. The supplemental groceries include milk, yogurt, fruit, chicken, cheese, noodles, flour, oil, and juice.
The total cost of the medicine, food, bed, and mattress is $626.32 CAD, far beyond Hermelinda and Juan’s limited means. The Don Bosco site have put forward the request and pray that their support will help Denilson regain his spirits, restore his BMI, and be a role model for his brother.
