Project location: Nandom, Ghana
Project type: Family and community improvement
Project code: GNN1020
Background: Chalice's Nandom sponsor site is run by the Serve Child Centre, Nandom (a registered church-based charity organization managed by lay people under the jurisdiction of the church).
The site was opened in 2007 with the mission of providing timely and quality services to the needy. The site's values are accountability, teamwork, honesty, and commitment. Through our family funding benefit distribution model, sponsored children's parents receive sponsorship funds in their bank account to meet the school, health, and nutritional needs of the children. Other site activities include training and workshops for beneficiaries, working with Chalice circle groups in small enterprises and micro-savings.
This project will construct a ceiling in the community hall and build a perimeter fence. The wall will provide security to the building, especially the office, which is also located within the community building, as well as stored equipment and assets.
Project Objectives: This project will benefit 433 sponsored children and 2000 non-sponsored community members who use the community hall.
Without a ceiling, the noise echoes and during the hottest months, it becomes unbearable. The new ceiling will provide a neat finish, protect the roof, insulate the sound, and complete the construction of the building. The new fence will add much-needed security to the building, which is especially needed as they house a branch of the Wa credit union. This fence will also stop random people from trying to force the doors open and vandalizing the property.
Budget in Canadian Funds: $34,886.08
