Photo Friday: Our top 5 “acts of kindness” photos

Welcome to Photo Friday! Each Friday, we share photo collections of our favourite shots from our sponsor sites around the world.

Today, November 13, is World Kindness Day, a day annually celebrated across the globe to promote the wonderful virtue of kindness. We’re so blessed to witness abundant acts of kindness each and every day; both at our sites around the world, and from our incredible supporters at home here in Canada.

In honour of this special day, we’re sharing our top 5 “acts of kindness” photos! These heartwarming gestures remind us that even the smallest acts can make the biggest difference in the lives of others.

#5: Foot care for elders

On our Medical Mission trip to Haiti North, our team treated local elders suffering from foot and leg pain to medical evaluations, stretching classes, and massages. The massages included a gentle washing from our dedicated volunteers. This act of kindness truly touched the hearts of the elders receiving treatment.

#4: Dedication for orphans

At our Mbinga site in Tanzania, many orphaned children and babies are left in the care of our Sisters. They lovingly dedicate their lives to caring for these sweet children. With support from our donors, the Sisters ensure these orphans grow up happy, healthy, and strong. What a great kindness from so many people!

#3: Fresh greens for kids

Vivian is a mother who kindly volunteers her time to helping out at the Open Centre at our CMAVIL site in Paraguay. She has a green thumb, and loves assisting the children in maintaining their small garden plot where they grow fresh produce for daily lunches.

#2: Teaching kindness to teenagers

Andrea is a psychologist working with the youth at our Amanecer site in Bolivia in a city with many low-income and dangerous areas. Life can be very precarious for children and teens. “It is based on survival. Do what they can to survive on the street,” Andrea describes. Andrea seeks to teach them that kindness and sharing is more powerful. We’re so happy that these teens have such a caring person to teach them about the power of kindness!

#1: A second chance for a child in need

There’s something very special about the day this photo was taken for each of these children. Can you spot it by the look on their faces? These kids from our Orissa site in India had all just been chosen by a Chalice sponsor! This one small act of kindness by their new sponsored friend will forever change their lives.

We offers our thanks to all of our dear sponsors and supporters for their many acts of kindness! Follow Chalice on Facebook and Instagram for daily updates from our sponsor sites, impact stories, and more!
