John, 22, is a student who has been sponsored through our Haiti South Sponsor Site since 2007.
He lives in the community of Latiboliere with his three brothers and four sisters - his father is a farmer and his mother teaches. The family lives in a small modest home with no running water or electricity and struggles to cover basic needs.

Chalice Critical Needs - Treatment of sickle cell anaemia for John, Haiti SouthTwo years ago John was diagnosed with sickle cell anaemia - a condition in which there isn't enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen throughout the body. It can be both painful and debilitating. John has been getting treatment with small amounts of financial assistance from our site but his condition has worsened and is such that further, more costly care is required. He needs to be treated at a clinic in Jeremie some 45 minutes away and requires funding to cover the cost of medical treatment (four appointments), medication, and a special diet (for one year) for treatment of anaemia. The total cost for these items is $868.

Neither John nor his family has the money to cover these costs.

Our sponsor site director has come to Chalice requesting that we assist with payment of the expense for the treatment.

Funding Request: $868.00
