Yuvraj is the brother-in-law of one of the Chalice staff at the Liaison Office. He recently had high blood pressure and swollen legs.
After several doctor appointments he was referred to a kidney specialist who diagnosed him with chronic kidney failure. The doctor recommended that he have a kidney transplant and placed him under regular dialysis three times per week in the interim.
Yuvraj's mother offered to donate one of her kidneys to her son and the transplant was performed. Both Yuvraj and his mother are recovering. The cost of the transplant surgery was $1798 and Yuvraj was only able to pay for it by getting loans from his friends. He is single and supports both his parents through his job as a supervisor. With time off taken and a minimal income, when he does get back to work he has no way to pay off the loans.
Our Region Office in Chennai has come to Chalice for assistance with payment of these medical expenses.
