Abel lives with his parents, three brothers and one sister, in a brick house in Yapacani, Bolivia. He is in grade three and his favourite subject is Math. He enjoys playing soccer with his friends. Abel would like to become a police officer when he grows up. His father worked as a driver before he became ill, but now he cannot walk and is unable to work. His mother sells yucca to try to support the family. Sponsorship makes it possible for children to attend class every day and provides the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.

A SPECIAL NOTE TO SPONSORS FROM THE USA. We will send you a receipt for income tax purposes following the end of each calendar year. Chalice is not a registered charity in the USA, but Canada and the USA do have a tax treaty which allows a tax deduction under certain conditions. Basically, a resident of the USA may be eligible to claim a deduction against taxable income received from Canada. Please consult a qualified financial advisor to review your own personal situation. You can still sponsor if you don't require an official income tax receipt. We have many sponsors from the USA and we send them our heartfelt thank you.
