About Nellore ...
The climate of the region ranges from dry sub-humid to semi-arid. It is greatly dependent on the monsoon rains and prone to droughts. Madurai is a strikingly fascinating and complex city and Tamil Nadu is most known for its ancient Hindu temples and classical dance. The region has a high level of poverty especially in the rural areas. High drop-out and low completion of secondary school continue to hinder the quality of the work force.
The Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod have run the Chalice Nellore Sponsor Site since 2012 which is located in south west India. They have two locations: Vianney Home that offers services to people living with HIV/AIDS, physically and mentally challenged children, school drop outs, and tribal communities. The Centre provides residence to special children and children affected with HIV/AIDS. In Nellore, the Sponorship Program supports children who are infected/affected with HIV/AIDS, children who are orphans, with only one parent, and children who have guardians. Some rural children stay in school hostel while others stay at home with their family. All the children are chosen from economically poor communities without regard for gender or caste.
