About Levantate Mujer ...
The Chalice Levántate Mujer Sponsor Site is located in Sucre, the 5th largest city in Bolivia, in the south-central part of the country. Sucre is the Constitutional Capital of Bolivia but La Paz is the actual Seat of Government. Sucre lies at an elevation of 2810 m and has a cool temperate climate year-round due to its elevation. In this area of Bolivia, children either go to the streets to work or are locked in their houses to look after younger siblings.
The Chalice Levántate Mujer Sponsor Site is dedicated to strengthening the dignity of women, children, and adolescents who are victims of drug and human trafficking. The Levántate Mujer Foundation treats issues such as HIV/AIDS and domestic violence in order to contribute to the overall development of a fair and equitable society. The Foundation promotes personal and social transformation inspired by Jesus, the Good Shepherd, through two centres for children.

All sponsored children at the Chalice Levantate Mujer Site both young and adolescent, are from single mothers who have been abandoned by their partners. The families are mostly migrants from rural areas and earn very low incomes. They receive food bags and school supplies each quarter. In addition, the School Support Centre helps the children with their homework, since most of their parents are illiterate. Also, the Centre for Attention to the Childhood Sayariy offers temporary lodging and meals to the children. A soup kitchen is available to other children 7 to 12 years old.
