About ASDC
Situated in Cochabamba, Bolivia, the new Chalice Sponsorship Site, Asociacion de Sindrome de Down Cochabamba (Down Syndrome Association Cochabamba) helps children with Down Syndrome. Formerly a sub-site of our Amanecer Site, ASDC is evolving into its own independent site. Thanks to sponsorship these children now have access to medical care, help with their education and better family support.
Formed by parents of children affected by Down Syndrome in the area, the site offers many programmes and care facilities, including: after school support, physiotherapy, rehabilitation therapy, vision, speech and music therapy, as well as early childhood intervention, daily chores and psychological support.
Sponsorship in ASDC
Through Chalice sponsorship, these children are offered a more personalized care program than they would otherwise receive. They are also offered one-on-one attention to help them with their schoolwork and get them involved in their classrooms. Teachers are also shown ways to give these children the attention they need. As an additional benefit to the community, Chalice helps adults with Down Syndrome in Cochabamba find employment.
"Sponsorship makes a difference in the life of sponsored children and allows him or her to have access to specialized care they would not have otherwise." Douglas Estanga, International Manager for Latin America, Chalice Canada.
